Telehandlers (Telescopic Handlers)

Description: Telehandlers are a staple on construction sites. They feature a telescoping arm that extends forward and upward, enabling high reach and the ability to place heavy loads in hard-to-reach areas. This type of forklift can be equipped with various attachments, including forks, buckets, or winches, making it highly versatile for a range of tasks.

Key Features: High Reach and Lift Capacity: Can lift materials to heights of 12 meters or more, and typically can handle loads up to 5,000 kg or higher. Often equipped with rough terrain tyres, making them suitable for outdoor, uneven, and rugged environments.

Best For: Construction sites, agricultural applications, and any job that requires lifting materials to a height or moving them over rough terrain.

Rough Terrain

Description: Rough terrain forklifts are designed to navigate difficult and uneven surfaces, such as sites with gravel, dirt, or mud. These forklifts are built with robust tyres and higher ground clearance, making them ideal for outdoor use on rugged terrain.

Key Features: All-Wheel Drive (AWD) – provides better traction on rough or loose surfaces, including sand, dirt, or mud. Large Tyres with deep tread help improve stability and ensure the forklift doesn’t get stuck on uneven surfaces.

Can lift weighty materials such as construction equipment, bricks, or steel beams, with a lift capacity typically ranging from 2,000 kg to 10,000 kg.

Best For: Outdoor sites, demolition, roadwork, landscaping, and other operations where rugged terrain is prevalent.

High-Capacity

Description: High-capacity forklifts are designed to lift extremely heavy loads that standard forklifts cannot manage. These are typically used in large-scale projects where heavy materials need to be moved, such as steel beams, large equipment, or concrete blocks.

Key Features: Reinforced frames, larger tyres, and stronger hydraulics make these forklifts capable of handling weights of 10,000 kg or more. They have longer masts that enable high lifting, which is crucial for stacking heavy materials.

Built to withstand harsh conditions, such as high temperatures, dust, and continuous extreme use.

Best For: Large projects, steel yards, and operations that involve heavy lifting, such as moving machinery, equipment, or oversized materials.

Scissor Lift

Description: Scissor lifts, also called vertical mast forklifts, are compact forklifts with a scissor-like lifting mechanism that allows the platform to extend vertically. While not a traditional forklift, they are sometimes used for material handling at heights, especially for tasks such as lifting workers to higher areas for repairs or inspections.

Key Features: The lifting mechanism is vertically powered, allowing it to reach heights efficiently without extending outward. Can manoeuver in confined spaces and is ideal for areas with low overhead clearance.

Loading capacity typically ranges from 227 kg to 1,000 kg, making them suitable for lifting lightweight materials or workers.

Best For: Locations where lifting personnel or lightweight materials to height is required, such as in roofing, scaffolding, or high-rise projects.

Forklifts with Boom Lifts

Description: Boom lifts, sometimes called articulating forklifts or aerial work platforms, are specialised machines that extend vertically and horizontally to provide access to hard-to-reach areas. These forklifts are equipped with long, extendable arms that can provide high-area lifting with the flexibility to access various angles and positions.

Key Features: The ability to extend and articulate at multiple angles provides excellent access in difficult-to-reach spots. Can extend both vertically (for high-rise access) and horizontally (for accessing areas around obstacles).

Best For: Projects where access to high or awkward locations is needed, such as in building facades, overhead work, or areas surrounded by obstacles.

Compact Telehandlers

Description: Compact telehandlers are smaller, more manoeuvrable versions of the standard telehandler. They are ideal for locations with limited space or for working in confined areas, such as inside buildings or on narrow streets.

Key Features: Despite being compact, they can still lift up to 2,500 kg to 4,000 kg, making them suitable for medium-duty tasks. More agile and capable of navigating through narrower aisles, doors, or construction barriers.

Best For: Smaller projects, urban environments, or any place where full-sized telehandlers can’t easily manoeuvre.

Crawler

Description: Crawler forklifts are a special type of rough terrain forklift equipped with tracks like a bulldozer instead of wheels. These tracks allow the forklift to traverse extremely soft, muddy, or uneven terrain with minimal ground disturbance.

Key Features: The track system provides improved ground contact and weight distribution, enabling the forklift to navigate soft or muddy terrain without getting stuck.

Offers superior stability, especially when lifting weighty loads in challenging environments.

Can carry large loads, typically in the range of 3,000 kg to 6,000 kg, depending on the model.

Best For: Locations with extremely soft, muddy, or uneven surfaces, such as landscaping, demolition, or forestry projects.

All-Terrain

Description: All-terrain forklifts are versatile machines designed to handle both indoor and outdoor environments, with special features to navigate rugged locations. They are designed to handle a variety of terrains, including grass, mud, gravel, and uneven surfaces.

Key Features: Built with robust engines to tackle demanding environments. Can typically lift and reach similar to rough terrain forklifts or telehandlers.

Best For: Projects that require frequent transitions between smooth paved surfaces and rugged, uneven terrain.

Diesel Forklifts for Construction

Description: Diesel forklifts are the preferred choice for heavy-duty operations on construction sites that require moving items outdoors or in environments where powerful lifting is necessary. Diesel-powered forklifts can handle larger, heavier loads and operate for extended periods without requiring frequent recharging.

Key Features: Diesel engines are known for their high torque, which is great for moving large loads. Built to endure tough environments with high levels of dust, debris, and challenging weather.

Best For: Outdoor construction sites, especially in heavy-duty applications such as moving large equipment or materials, where power and durability are crucial.

Rough Terrain Reach

Description: These forklifts are similar to standard reach forklifts but are designed to handle rough terrain. They combine the extended reach capability of a reach forklift with rugged, off-road tyres, allowing for use on uneven surfaces and making them ideal for outdoor construction environments where high reach is required.

Key Features: Extended Reach – Can reach heights of up to 7-10 meters, ideal for stacking or lifting at elevated heights. Large tyres and enhanced suspension make them suitable for soft ground and difficult terrain.

Best For: Construction sites that need high reach in combination with the ability to operate over rugged, uneven terrain.
