Counterbalance

Description: Counterbalance forklifts are the most common type of forklift used in industrial applications. They are equipped with a counterweight at the back to balance the load, allowing them to carry heavy loads without tipping over.

These forklifts have no outriggers and can lift heavy loads directly in front of the machine.

Key Features: Compact and versatile, with easy manoeuvrability in narrow aisles. Can handle loads ranging from 1,500 kg to 12,000 kg, though higher-capacity models exist.

Reach Trucks

Description: Reach forklifts are great for narrow aisles and are commonly used in warehouses with high racking systems. These forklifts have extendable arms that can shift pallets or loads to higher shelves, making them ideal for working in tight spaces.

Key Features: Their design makes them ideal for operations in narrow or congested spaces.

Suited For: Warehouses with narrow aisles and high storage racks.

Pallet Jacks (Manual & Electric)

Description: Order pickers are used for picking individual items from shelves or storage locations. The operator’s platform or cabin elevates along with the forks, allowing the operator to pick items directly from the shelves at height.

Key Features: The operator’s platform elevates with the load, allowing for higher picking positions. Perfect for manoeuvring in tight spaces with minimal aisle width.

Suited For: Picking orders in distribution centres, stockrooms, and retail warehouses.

Pallet Jacks (Manual & Electric)

Description: Pallet jacks (also known as pallet trucks) are low-lift forklifts used for transporting pallets over short distances. The user’s physical force operates manual pallet jacks, while electric pallet jacks are powered by batteries, making them easier to use over longer distances or heavier loads.

Key Features: Can be powered manually or electrically, depending on the need. Easy to navigate in tight spaces and around narrow aisles.

Suited For: Moving pallets in warehouses, retail settings, or small warehouses with limited lifting needs.

Walkie Stacker

Description: Walkie stackers are semi-electric forklifts that lift and stack pallets at heights while the operator walks beside the machine. They are typically used for medium-duty lifting and are commonly used in retail environments and smaller warehouses.

Key Features: The operator walks beside the machine, controlling it via a handle. These forklifts can lift pallets to heights of up to 5 meters.

Suited For: Lifting and stacking pallets in confined spaces or short-range tasks.

High Reach

Description: High-reach forklifts, also known as turret trucks or very narrow aisle (VNA) trucks, are perfect for operations in very narrow aisles, typically in high-density warehouse systems. They offer high lift and precision manoeuvring.

Key Features: Specifically created to operate in aisles as narrow as 1.6 meters. These forklifts can lift up to 12 meters, allowing them to reach top shelves or storage locations.

Suited For: High-density warehouse systems, operations requiring very narrow aisles and high storage density.

Rough Terrain

Description: Rough terrain forklifts are for outdoor use and can handle uneven ground, making them ideal for construction sites, lumber yards, and other environments with tough terrain. These forklifts are often used for transporting heavy loads across fields, gravel, or uneven surfaces.

Key Features: These forklifts are typically powered by diesel or LPG engines, providing more power for use in rough environments.

Suited For: Construction sites, outdoor material handling, and rugged industrial environments.

Side Loader

Description: Side loader forklifts are for loading and unloading materials from the side rather than the front. They are often used to move long or bulky loads, such as lumber, steel beams, or pipes, that would be difficult to transport using a standard forklift.

Key Features: Enables operators to load and unload long materials efficiently without requiring a large amount of space in front or behind the forklift. Ideal for environments with limited space, such as narrow aisles or confined areas.

Suited For: Handling long, bulky materials such as steel, timber, or pipes in warehouses or storage yards.

Order Pickers with Elevated Platforms

Description: Order pickers with elevated platforms are similar to standard order pickers but are perfect for bulk picking and multi-level picking tasks. These forklifts enable the operator to access multiple levels of shelving without the need for ladders or lifts.

Key Features: These models can efficiently handle high shelves and multi-level picking.

Best For: Picking large quantities or bulk orders in high-shelving environments.

Heavy-Duty

Description: Heavy-duty forklifts are for lifting very heavy loads, often exceeding 10,000 kg. These forklifts are typically found in industries that handle large and heavy materials, such as steel mills, lumber yards, and large-scale manufacturing facilities.

Key Features: Can lift up to 25,000 kg or more, depending on the model. These forklifts can be fitted with specialised attachments, such as clamps, spreaders, or extended forks.

Suited For: Handling oversized or very heavy materials, such as steel, machinery, or large construction materials.

Container Handlers

Description: Container handlers are for loading, unloading, and stacking shipping containers. These forklifts are equipped with specialised wide forks or container clamps to handle the unique size and weight of containers.

Key Features: Typically has lifting capacities ranging from 5,000 kg to 50,000 kg. Created to move containers in tight spaces, often in port facilities or distribution centres.

Suited For: Shipping and receiving areas, ports, logistics facilities, and container yards.

Tractor-Style

Description: Tractor-style forklifts are for agriculture and yard work. They combine the power of a tractor with the material-handling capabilities of a forklift, making them ideal for agricultural or farming tasks such as moving hay bales, pallets, or other bulk items.

Key Features: The machine can be equipped with various attachments, including forks, buckets, and grapples, for a range of tasks. Often equipped with larger wheels for outdoor use on farms, nurseries, or agricultural facilities.

Sited For: Farming, agriculture, nurseries, and large outdoor storage yards.
